Danny Miller, Violin

Scottish violinist, Danny Miller is a prize-winning graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he studied under Head of Strings, Peter Lissauer and Gina McCormack of the Sorrel and Maggini String Quartets. He then studied under the tutelage of Professor Igor Ozim of the Mozarteum Universitat in Salzburg, Austria. Solo and Chamber Music Prizes include the Bette and Willie MacPherson Prize for Solo Violin Playing, the Mabel Glover String Quartet Competition and the Governor’s Prize for Chamber Music. Whilst studying in 2013, he was selected for an apprenticeship with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He plays regularly with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera. Danny enjoys a busy schedule of chamber, orchestral and solo playing. Solo performances include the concerti of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Vaughan Williams. As Co-Leader of the Argyll String Quartet, he has performed repertoire ranging from Purcell to Faure. As a recitalist, he has been invited to perform at Music Societies and Clubs across Scotland and at notable venues such as Edinburgh Castle and St. Giles’ Cathedral. Danny has performed extensively the core literature for Violin and Piano – including a recent concert series covering the complete Sonatas of Beethoven and Brahms. His recent CD “Remembrances: Music of the First World War” was released in June 2017. As an orchestral musician, Danny has appeared as Guest Leader of Scottish Sinfonia and has led both the Edinburgh Grand Opera and Haddo House Operatic Society orchestras in their respective productions of La Boheme and La Traviata. Danny was Principal Second Violin of the Mediterranean Opera Studio Festival Orchestra during their Sicilian Tour in 2016 where he also performed as a soloist with the orchestra. He nows holds the position of Concert-Master with the orchestra and was recently invited to play for the Concert-Master of the Teatro Massimo, Palermo. Danny has worked with leading names from the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Teatro Massimo Bellini, Catania. He was accepted into the Orchestra of the Varna International Opera Academy, Bulgaria and toured the UK and Italy with Raucous Rossini, the Helios Collective and the New Generation Festival, Florence. Danny has recently completed a tour of Canada and the USA with TransAtlanticOpera, performing at venues including the National Opera Centre in New York City. He has broadcast on both BBC Radio and Television.
